I Love My Kids

I just wanted to mention that I appreciate how my kids love me unconditionally. At this point in their lives they all still like me and think I am pretty good at many things. Today for dinner I made a broccoli cheese soup. As I was making it Devin was getting fussy and complaining in his high chair while he was having a snack. I got a little distracted trying to bake rolls, cook the soup, and keep a tired 6 month old happy. The end result was the bottom of my soup got a little well done. Not enough to effect the favor but enough to have little brown flecks in the soup. I was feeling a little frustrated that all my efforts were not good enough (even though I was trying very hard) and not pleased about having everyone eat soup that had chunkles of well done cheese in it. But like any busy,frustrated mom I served it. It is what I made and great or not it was what we were having for dinner. MY KIDS LOVED IT! Riley hates broccoli and she ate all her soup saying how broccoli wasn't that bad. Mariah and Emily both had thirds and Mariah kept saying it was one of her favorite foods right up there with lasagna. I am sure Justin was not having the same feelings about the soup they were but thank goodness for my girls. I ended up feeling that even though I am not a great cook I do the best I can and sometimes I actually make something really good for them to eat( not tonight, but sometimes). It made me slow down and appreciate my girls and be glad they love me and can rave about my soup and think I am a pretty good mom. It is moments like that make being a parent so rewarding. Everyone else in the world may think I did a poor job of making dinner but my kids think I cooked a great meal for them. They sure were good for my self esteem today.

I Don't Know About Those Two

Yesterday I was waiting for Emily to get home from school so I could run to the store. She was a little later than usual but I was talking on the phone and I was a little distracted. I looked out the window into the backyard and this is what I saw. Apparently they had a vet come to school as part of the presentation they each got a face mask and hairnet. I am not sure why. All I know is Emily and Nic loved it. It was just so expected to look out the window and see those two jumping on the tramp all decked out in their hair nets. I never know what to expect when they are together.

Fall Fun

I love this time of year! I like the changing leaves, football games, Halloween activties, and the cooler weather. The last couple of years we have grown mini pumpkins in our garden. I love to grow them they are just so cute. There are alot of crafts to do with the kids. Over the weekend we had a spontananus pumpkin painting party. It was a little windy so we did it in the garage. We also went to the corn maze for a school activity. They sponser a family night and the PTA provides hot chocolate and donuts. I told Justin if I took the kids in by myself I don't think we would ever make it out. I have no sense of direction. When I get in there I have no stratgey for how I am going to get out. I just wander around aimlessly. I would eventually have to cheat and just head for the freeway in between rows.

Last Weekend

We had a busy day on Saturday. Our neighborhood hosted a yard sale. We had never done one before, but since it was a neighborhood event and being advertised we decided to participate. We mostly had baby stuff and some of the girls toys they have outgrown. Justin told the kids that they could split all the money we made and save it for Christmas. We were hoping to make just enough to make it worth the kids time. I am not sure how much people net on a good yard sale but we were satisfied. We were only set up for 3 1/2 hours and really didn't sell any major items except our bassinet and we made $130. The kids had a great time. Here they are all set up and ready to go! We shut down the yard sale early because we had tickets to go to the BYU vs CSU football game. Mariah loves to go down to the BYU games. The rest of the kids stayed with my mom and dad. It was a good game (they won) and the weather was great. What a weekend!
